LCI will acquire up to 21 latest generation helicopters from Leonardo

Lease Company International (LCI), a leasing company in the aviation sector, announced the availability, through a framework agreement, of 21 next-generation helicopters from the Leonardo company, composed of 10 specific models plus 11 options.

The new framework agreement covers the AW169 light intermediate, AW139 intermediate and AW189 super medium helicopters, which will collectively address renewal and replacement requirements in the industry.

The new helicopters will be delivered through 2028 and will be intended for a variety of missions including emergency medical services (EMS), search and rescue (SAR), marine and wind energy.

The helicopters will be strategically allocated between LCI and SMFL LCI Helicopters, LCI’s joint venture with Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing Company, Limited (SMFL).

According to the company, the helicopters record superior performance, flexibility and lower CO2 emissions than comparable types and other modes of transportation, thereby helping operators reduce their carbon footprint while maintaining mission-critical and life-saving operations.

In addition, they will be equipped with the latest set of navigation and safety features and will also be authorized to use sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) in the future, taking advantage of the certification standards already obtained by Leonardo for the use of SAF.

“The helicopter market seeks to review, renew and replenish capacity in a disciplined and pragmatic manner. We want to help customers, operators and end users grow sustainably while using some of the most modern, efficient and technologically innovative helicopters in the skies,” said Jaspal Jandu, CEO of LCI.

Other notable differences include:

Flexibility: Private jets offer more flexibility in terms of schedules and destinations, since flights can be scheduled according to the client’s needs.

Comfort: Private jets are typically more comfortable than commercial airplanes, as they are designed for fewer passengers and offer more personal space.

Privacy: Private jets offer greater privacy than commercial airplanes, since there are no other passengers on board.

This will be the strategy that will implement hundreds of heliports for emergencies

As part of the National Plan for the Prevention, Mitigation and Combat of Forest Fires 2023-2024, authorities headed by the Minister of the MOP, Jessica López and the Minister of Agriculture, Esteban Valenzuela, announced the strategy that will allow the implementation of hundreds of heliports throughout the country to face emergencies.

The National Plan for Rest Points for Helicopters (PPH) aims to provide support infrastructure for helicopters during

the development of different emergencies, such as fighting forest fires.

This plan will provide connectivity to places that, in the event of an emergency or catastrophic event, are isolated and require the immediate arrival of help, thus increasing the coverage of the territory, giving a timely response from the State to the needs that arise in this type. of situations.

Goals of the National Helicopter Landing Point Plan

Given that the Plan is national in nature, the following goals have been set in order to achieve coverage throughout the country:

Short term: Have 100 PPH built by 2026 (Investment approx. $40,000 MM)

Medium term: Have 260 PHH built by 2030 (Investment approx. $100,000MM)

Beneficiary population: National coverage that can reach around 2.5 million potential beneficiaries.
