Executive Airlines estimates growth of between 8% and 10% by 2024
With Category 1, air taxis will benefit because they could have a growth of between 8% or 10%, estimated Alejandro Alonso, general director of Aerolíneas Executivas.
In an interview with A21, the manager expressed that returning to Category 1 “will help us a lot, I think we are going to double this year’s growth.”
He acknowledged that the exchange rate has been an “issue” for executive aviation, because the financing is paid in dollars, but the pilots’ salaries are in pesos, which means that executive aviation is dollarized.
“You receive less pesos, you have a certain suffering in terms of profits, but without a doubt we believe that we are going to grow 4% and we assume that next year it will be around between 8% and 10%,” he said.
On the other hand, he commented that the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has already received all the documentation for all the airplanes, belonging to Aerolíneas Executivas, that were not registered with them because they were in Category 2.
Alonso explained that they are now waiting for three new aircraft requested, so that the FAA grants the company the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to be able to operate in the United States.
He mentioned that with the return to Category 1, the FAA has the request of all Mexican airlines, including those of executive airlines and “now we have to wait for the American authority to finish this entire process of registering the airplanes that Mexican airlines do not they could use to go to that country.”
Regarding the fact that airports such as Toluca and, soon, the North Airport (ADN), are in the hands of the armed forces, the manager said that the commitment of the President, as well as of the Secretariats of Defense and Navy, is that these terminals airlines continue to operate as they have been doing.
“What they simply want is to control the entire issue of drug trafficking and human trafficking, obviously we are in favor of regulating all these problems that we have in this country, as long as we can continue operating as we should; “We do not see it as militarization,” he pointed out.
He made it clear that the Toluca International Airport is the most important for executive airlines, as he recalled that since 1994 they have departed from the Mexico City International Airport (AICM).

The president of Gulfstream, Mark Burns, and FLYING contributor and veteran aviation journalist, Fred George, were included in the Living Legends of Aviation in the 21st edition of the gala event on Friday, January 19, at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
The star-studded evening featured honorees from 2024, including Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, Steve Hinton, Marc Parent, Laurans A. Mendelson, Kyle Clark, Linden Blue, Lance Toland, and Lauren Sánchez, alongside Burns and George.
In this exclusive event, which celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to aviation, Burns was honored with the prestigious Lifetime Aviation Industry Award. It’s worth noting that Aerocardal has the honor of being the exclusive Sales Representative for Chile and an authorized Maintenance Center for Gulfstream in the region, underscoring its commitment and partnership with the brand.
The awards, produced for the benefit of the Kiddie Hawk Air Academy, were established in 2003 to honor those who have made a lasting impact in aviation, including entrepreneurs, innovators, industry leaders, astronauts, or those who have achieved notable feats in flight. Burns, an industry leader with over 40 years of experience at Gulfstream, joined the company in 1983 as a CAD operator and has played key roles in engineering and customer service before ascending to the presidency in July 2015. Currently, Gulfstream is on the verge of FAA type certification for the G700 and G800, with Burns also serving as vice president at the parent company General Dynamics.
Axiom launches its third private flight to the International Space Station. This is what your clients have paid
It has been two years since Axiom Space successfully completed the first private voyage to the International Space Station.
The company made its second flight last year and hopes to launch its third commercial mission this Wednesday. Like previous times, it will do so in a SpaceX Crew Dragon ship aboard a Falcon 9 rocket, also operated by Elon Musk’s company.
Barring a delay, Ax-3 will depart Cape Canaveral at 22:11 UTC on January 17 and dock with the International Space Station at 10:15 UTC on January 19. The ship will be commanded by Michael López-Alegría, Axiom’s chief astronaut. Born in Madrid, López-Alegría was a NASA astronaut and also commanded the Ax-1 mission. This will be his sixth space mission.
He is accompanied by three paying clients: Marcus Wandt, a Swedish-born European Space Agency astronaut who flies into space for the first time. Walter Villadei, colonel of the Italian Air Force who has already flown once with Virgin Galactic. And Alper Gezeravci, who hopes to become the first Turk to travel to space.
Punta del Este: the paradise of private planes
The private jet boom in Punta del Este has been consolidated in recent years, and has become the new normal for high-net-worth tourists. The limited supply of connectivity and demand on the route between Buenos Aires and the Uruguayan resort fueled the knowledge and expansion of private flights to the Laguna del Sauce International Airport.
According to the manager of Laguna del Sauce, Alejandro Rivero, in the last three days more than 250 private planes landed. In total, the airport has 21 weekly frequencies with Aerolíneas Argentinas; a daily service with Asunción and six weekly frequencies with Brazil.
